I recently got a JL 500.1 amp to power my 12 w3'v3s. The first day after the system was installed, everything ran fine, but this morning i tried messing with the gains on the amp and notice it didnt turn on. So i went back to the shop where i got it installed and asked them what was wrong. One dude said i blew my amp. I was pretty bummed out because I just got the system installed and i didnt crank the volume that high so i couldnt have blew it. So i went home, and turn off the auto turn on setting and the amp works again. So turns out i didnt blow my amp, so i took it back to the shop and asked them if anything was wrong. So they tested it and told me the amp was clipping if i set the gains too high on my remote bass gain. Is this a defective amp because it clips when i set the bass gain up? I need to know so i can get warranty on it if it does sound defective. Thanks for your help in advance!

No its not defective you probably was clipping it.

X2 on what rev said. I have one but I try not to use it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Yes its when i turn up the gains from the remote bass gain that causes the amp to clip.

Are you sure its not a defective amp? id rather warranty it than to blow my amp.

The guy that did my installation said the clipping will only get worse! is that true?

I went to an audio shop today to see if the guy knew what was wrong cause he deals with JL stuff. He didnt really know what the problem is because he needs to book an appointment with me to further investigate the situation but he also suggested that maybe its not grounding properly. Right now my ground is not at a very good spot. Should i tell my installer to ground the wire from my capacitator all the way to my battery negative?

And yes i disconnected the remote bass and it still does it. It doesnt do it all the time, just went a really hard base hits.
