Does this seem overpriced?

So I have a 2009 Corvette Z06 with the Bose system, and it just sounds AWFUL. I want to upgrade, so I gave car toys a call. Now, Unless you've heard the stock Bose system in these cars, I can't describe how bad they are. Therefore almost ANYTHING is an upgrade. Anyways, car toys wrote up this quote for me, and it seems a little on the high side. I love JL audio, but I don't necessarily need AMAZING equipment.

I called another place, and they recommended Infinity Kappas or Pioneer TSD's for the speakers, and a Kicker CVR 10" sub with a 700.5 Kicker ZX amp. With these items, the price went down significantly.

Take a look at the quote from car toys and tell me if it justifies the price difference from the second place.

That's what I'm saying. $700 just for a box seems insane to me. The other place quoted $100 for a box.

Buy the equipment yourself online, and pay for the installation..shouldn't be more than $400 for everything installed.

Car toys was going to make the box out of fiberglass and a tiny bit of wood. The other place was going to be all wood. The owner from the 2nd place said an all wood enclosure sounds better. I just don't want it to be too heavy considering my car is 3100lbs and I don't want to make it too much heavier.

Boston Acoustics, all their subs are under rated in terms of power handling, sq and popularity. The prices are great on them right now because BA stopped making car audio products so retailers are trying to get rid of their stock

Hmm, never heard of that brand. In my 2000 ***** Am WS6, I have a 10" Infinity sub, and it sounds perfect for what I listen to. I'd be willing to give them a shot if they have clean, punchy bass.
