Hey guys, I was playing my setup a few days ago hard and for about 20 min straight when I got a whiff of something burning. I quickly turned it off and popped my trunk and smoke was coming out of my port tubes. Funny thing is, this setup has not been changed for the last 2 months at all. But anyway, the sub sounds and plays absolutely fine. Any opinions of what smoked and what should i do?

If anything, all the box does is make my shit sound good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I know I should shut up, **** sub still works but wondering why lol

I would sure hope so. That is what a box is supposed to do. I'de be pretty upset if I overpaid and it didn't sound good;)

Nothing short of something going wrong, could cause a large amount of smoke to come from the box. You may want to take the driver out and check it.

when the coil approaches thermal breakdown temp of the glue... it begins to go away... which results to smoke and smell..

that's what happened... how you done it is simple... power applied during that timeframe exceeded the cooling ability of the driver(s)

Wow, I would have never thought i didn't burn off the glue. Ive pushed it hard before this inccident. Hopefully it is just the glue and not coils..?

you'll never melt the coils... melting points of copper and aluminum are way beyond that of the annodization / glue..

what happens is when the above melts off, the coil is no longer a length of wire, but a chunk... which has the electrical properties of a dead short //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
