Does this look alright?

Currently just have an aftermarket deck, sub, and amp to power it, but gonna be upgrading to comps along with a 2nd amp to power them. I've created a sketch of how I believe everything will be wired:

I don't need to know where i need to put fuses or what size AWG i should use. Just wanna know if all my sketched connections are correct. Once I know everything is ok, i'm gonna start on everything in a few weeks.

Thanks!

the fuse coming off the battery should be within 18 inches (rule of thumb)

what size fuses are in your amps (if any) or what wattage total do they put out?

that will help you figure out what size wire to run and what size fuse to put under inline with the battery.

also does your HU have low level outputs for front, rear, and sub or just front & rear?

If it has all run enough RCAs for all. And if not find out if the output on the sub amp filters the output line. if so its not going to be wise to connect the 4ch to the output of the sub.

Using an 80amp fuse at about 6-8 inches from the battery on 4awg wire.

Currently only have an MTX 801D amp in place... need to check fuse size on that tomorrow. Getting late here.

I believe it's just front and rear. Will check tomorrow to make sure.

Dunno about the output on the sub amp filters. How about if i purchased a 4ch amp with that filtering capability and had the HU RCA's run into it, outputting to the sub amp?

if you can get one that doesnt filter the output or one that has a switch to turn it off and on. that way the signal going to the sub amp isnt filtered to remove the "bass". or vice versa if the output on the sub amp is filtered to remove the "mids & highs".

best idea is have a HU that has all three low level outputs. so you can run RCAs to the 4ch then RCAs to the sub amp.

Sounds good. Gotta head out to work but i'll look up my HU's features there. Thinking of upgrading to an Alpine HU... any recommendations? I'd say my budget is $300 on a new one after I get all my car's electrical shortcomings sorted out.

I have an older model Pioneer DEH-4800MP but thinking of getting an Alpine 9856 next week so i dont think HU outputs will be a problem.

Just to be sure, is my wiring of the remote wire correct? Do both amps need it?

yes both amps need the remote wire

Thats alittle small for 4awg...
You mean the fuse and/or amp? I'm waiting on some 125 and 300amp fuses from a friend who works at a local dealer here... can get em for me free. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif Might as well be somewhat prepared for a possible 1/0AWG upgrade in the future.

As far as the sub amp, i'm thinking of bumping it up to a hifonics BXi1606 or BXi2006... depends on my next sub. If I go with the 2006, should I just make the jump to 1/0AWG? I'll have a 2nd amp pulling another 400-600watts on top of it so I think it would be best. The cable run from batt to trunk is around 8-10 feet, btw.
