does the shape of a fibreglass box matter?

planning a custom fiberglass enclosure, with wood top, as long as the I get the volume of the box correct does the shape matter? it will be vented also...

shape does matter....but not enough that you should be concerned about it....

if you had a concert hall, things would be different, but the acoustics of most automobiles make box shaping for acoustical reflections pretty much pointless.

Not for the reasons mentioned . But when using fiberglass, shape does matter . A flat fiberglass panel will need 2-3 times the reinforcement a piece of mdf the same size would need. ok another newbie question...

if i make a plug of the rear wheel well area of my trunk, with a flat mdf front "baffle", can the port then be extended out from this box, (whatever the required length I need is...

eg... if I build the box from the box plans thread 1.75 @ 32.... the port is 33.625" so can i make a port thats that long from the side of my plug???

I'm starting to think the easiest way is either a standard ported square box, or a sealed custom box.

not quite understanding what your asking . Are you asking if the port can extend outside the enclosure ? If so , sure .
