The new $399 (40gb) version does not have it. They got rid of backwords compatibility, the flash memory card slots, and 2 of the 4 usb ports to bring costs down. But it does still play blue ray movies

ps2's are dirt cheap. just have both. i'm getting a ps3 on tax return, then the ps2 will be in my truck. i would rarely play ps2 if i had a ps3. i have a ps2 now and haven't played ps1 games since. thought i would, but it resembles atari games after playing ps2.

You can get a 20gb off ebay for around 300 dollars if you find the right sell. It will play ps2 games, and you can later upgrade your harddrive to a 250gb if you run out of space.

But really i have a ps3 and played ps2 games only a handful of times since i got (mostly because there were no good games out at the time) Now that some really great titles are out you won't need this feature unless you are finishing up old ps2 titiles you didn't finish, in which case you have a ps2 anyway, right?

yeah the older games look like shit compared to the stuff they have out now.

of course, then next gen will make this stuff look like shit too.

even the new games will look better than the old ones on the same sysem. it's why i never buy the new gaming systems right away.
