Does size really matter? (daily setup)

Would there be any major "boom" different between running 2 15s as apposed to 4 12s of the same model obviously. I would think the 4 would be far more due to cone area as stated earlier. 2 18s seems over the top for me going daily but I guess its about the same as say 4 12s.
well yeah 4 12"s has more cone area (3 12"s isnt louder that 2 15"s by cone area). 2 18"s will do the trick. 4 12"s has about 452 square inches of cone area, 2 18"s has about 508 sqaure inches of cone area....

well I guess 2 18s or 15s will be goal then. Wife and have the same birthday so maybe I can convince her to give me an early bday present before the end of April.

With 18s am I going to be able to run 500 ish on each sub and still do anything at all? well at 1 ohm I could probably get 750ish to each sub but otherwise I'm gonna have to search for an amp to push a setup that big.

Um you are going to be pushing at least 2k with 2 15s or 18s.

How about you shoot for dc level 4 18s"? 1000 rms and you can get it in about any coil configuration. and i gotta 2200 watt amp thats got your name written on it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What about 6 10s? Get another amp and strap them, thats 500 a piece at 2ohm. Perfect for 6 SA-10s or similar.

You could grab a couple to start with ran off the amp you have, and see if you even need anymore.

Its all about cone size, sub power handling/efficiency, and fs. If you want loud and low that is.
If you take an 8" sub, and have the same motor, coils etc, and stick it on a 15" basket/cone....the 15 will be considerably louder.....given all things equal. Remember...double the cone surface area, or the power to gain 3 db (roughly)
cone area makes a difference but this is a **** poor example. Dont think you are going to gain 3 d.. depends on a laundry list of things and you could go from 10k to 20k watts and not gain a tenth. if your bottle neck is your box size and not power you can throw a million watts to it and not gain anything. and while the double power or cone surface area has some merit at lower db levels.. get a system that does 160 and see how retarded it is to gain 3 more db...

with that said for your application i would look into 15s.. jsut my .02.. you can make any setup work depending on equipment and box.. just decide what you want to run and you could get alot more specifics from some guys on here
