Does Peel N Seal really work?

Alright guys, just to make this short and simple.. i work at Lowes Home Improvement, so i get a nice employee discount on pretty much everything imaginable.. including peel n seal , now my question is does this stuff actually work? Aka is it as good as dynomat? is it the real deal?

Also, will this stuff LAST? i dont want it peeling off afew months down the road since it gets 100 or so degrees around here in the summer, imagine how hot the trunks going to be, see what im saying?

Basically, does this stuff LAST , stay on and most importantly, WORK WELL

from what i have read it does not stick very well in the car environment and more layers would be needed to equal dynomat or any other car sound deadining material.

I have 3 layers of that exact stuff on the heatshield above my exhaust pipe to keep it from rattling. It's been on there for almost a year now through a tough Minnesota winter...salt, snow, ice....and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere. Still sticking strong. I don't know how hot my midpipe gets, but not hot enough to melt the asphalt...it must reflect the heat pretty well.

As far as using it for deadener, it's a poor choice not because it doesn't stick, but because it is so thin. You want something that adds mass to whatever you are deadening/dampening. Plus it stinks BAD...especially in the summer.

The thickest deadener I've used are the high temp mastic sheets from McMaster-Carr. A ***** to install, but adds a lot of weight and also helps reduce outside noise from coming in.

it will work if you are putting it on the floor of the vehicle because gravity is not working against it and heat is not beating down on the other side of the sheetmetal. and if you plan on putting down like 4 or 5 layers. if you plan on doing your entire car. it might be ideal if you wanna save a few bucks and do 2x the work.

then you can just use the expensive stuff for the trunklid\walls\rear deck

there are some alternative companies who make sound deadning as well... OEM types... they seem to have cheaper prices if you buy in bulk (many have minimum orders)

As long as you apply it properly... it will last for the lifetime of your vehicle.

I really would recommend you use something else for deadener though... A single layer of RAAMmat does just as much as three layers of this stuff. And it's stinky for about 2 months after you apply it.

mine neither. it can get as hot as the mid 90's, and go down below zero, and mine has never fallen off

I used eDead...so that explains it. Which, BTW is actually worse IME than the Lowes stuff.

It stank for awhile but then when away. I wasn't implying that is smells like a tar factory forever.

I would certainly not recommend edead. I've never tried the liquid stuff, but the mat sucks.
