Does my sub check out ok?

The carrier was UPS. I paid for shipping insurance and everything. I'm currently talking to the seller, and hopefully I can return it and get a refund, not sure if I want a replacement from this guy though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

So...if it were a federal offense, I'd be able to press charges, which would require a lawyer? that seems like a lot of work...do i have any other options? Why can't people just learn that, if it's not your name on it, then dont open the dam thing?!?

First I get scammed by Hemiscott, now this...I just got into car audio, and I must say it sure is EXCITING!

oh yea, I was also told that "It SOUNDS like the voice coils are corroded from the exposure to moisture."

ill include a pic of the box if you guys want....

looks like im stuck with a 2.5^3 ported box tuned to 33hz that veet is making for me and a Memphis ca300 120x2 amp....should i get another one of these orions because i think the amp and sub should match up pretty well...or does anyone have any better suggestions? not really in the mood to buy a new amp, but its possible...

just get a sub i bought a no name amp (crap 20$) and a atlas(great for price from bumpincrv 30$) sold it for double the day after i installed it just if someone say nice system try to sell it to em for more

looks pretty hard used but the only way to see if it will workis play it it may have been blown from the sounds of grinding when you push the cone in not the suspension but the Grind noise i had a 4 inch looked the same made same noise it was a kenwood and as soo as i played it it fryed my Hu what happened is it was in my door and had just been placed into the cavity bare so when it rained the water ran down and hit the speaker all the rust bounced around and ended up blowing the bloomin thing from heatr or water or both all i know is it looks preety banged up and i agree with aove ihope yo didnt pay to much or you could take to a repaier or sumone like that who know there shit and see what they say
Ever use one of these?........

.

Holy shit that thing looks like it has been on someones patio all summer as a potting plant!

I don't know how long these people had it for but my guess would be the person sent it already farked up. That looks like damage over time (rust, corrosion etc) I would def try and get a refund.

yea toasted, the seller claimed that it was in "perfect working condition" and it seemed like he took the pictures at just the right angles, and as far away as possible to miss the flaws //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif MESSED UP!

Never push a cone in like that. You will rub the voice coil and possibly damage it. It amking that rubbing noise is not an indication of it being defective, it could simply be you pressing down on the cone in a non-centered fashion (which the video appears to support).

In other words, the 'test' to listen for voice coil rub, most times in fact CAUSES voice coil rub.

^^ so are you saying the sub may still be good, and a refund may not be necessary?

because looking at the other issues the sub has, it doesnt seem as if itll last me much longer..

Im saying just because you pushed the cone in by hand and heard rubbing does not mean the voice coil is out of alignment. From the video it was pretty obvious you were not being real careful to push the cone centered, you actually moved your hand arouund on the cone while pressing in. This in and of itself is most likely gonna make the vc rub.
That sub looks rough. I wouldn't even want to guess how it would perform. Just hook it up free air and listen for mechanical/motor noise.

so what 12 am i lookin at now with my above stated box and amp?

"2.5^3 ported box tuned to 33hz that veet is making for me and a Memphis ca300 120x2 amp"

So this is the recent response from the seller:

The woofer did not have any hole in it and it work perfectly, I had ithooked up. I had perfect pictures of it and it was used, not new but worked

perfectly. If the voice coil is rubbing and it is blitzed it needs to be

claimed with UPS for damage. 1 888 pick ups. It did not leave here like

that.If it is damaged of course it is covered by insurance and especially if there is a hole it in now. This is not how it left here
can all those damages actually occur from shipping? and it sounds like it'll be a ***** to claim shipping damages with UPS....
