Does my AMP ****?

OK, I have a Profile AP740 60w x 4ch, I have Pioneer REV speakers.

Problem: Amp powers off, and my speakers turn off when hearing music!!

It happens when playing Just a little bit by 50cent.

I check the trunk, and my amp does indeed power off, cause the AP740 has a LED lite stripe on it to show power.

Though, I checked the back of it, and it seems like the red LED dot in back is on, and when it powers back on, it turns green from the back LED's?

What is my problem? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

there it is right there in black and white.
Dude, I thought that too, then I switched it to Slipknot - Nameless and it did it again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

Amps in protection mode. How do you have the subs wired and what resistance are they? Is this a new install and just starting to do this?
New install, i have the sub wired to the AP1000 watt amp, and my speakers hooked up to the AP740 amp....

I dont know what resistance it is, how do I tell?

This is just happening on the 4channel right? The subs play fine?

Do you have more than 1 speaker per channel on the 740? How high are your gains? Did you check your grounds? What gauge wire did you use?

More info would help us help you.

1 speaker per channel, gains are at normal levels, i even dropped the gains and that did not help.

I'm using 8-gauge for the AP740 amplifier and 4-gauge for the AP1000.

Yes the sub is playing fine.

Ground is shared with the ground cable from my AP1000 amp, but that amp plays fine all the time. I don't know what could be causing this.

What can I check?

So, it is going into protect mode? How exactly do you have your wiring from the battery to the amp? 2 seperate runs (1 with 8g and 1 with 4g)? Or, do you have a 4 guage or bigger run from the battery to a distrobution block?

Get a multimeter and put the leads on the + and - on the amp. Observe the voltage, and have a friend turn the system up to where this problem normally occurs. See if there is a big voltage drop when this happens. This will tell you if there is a inadequate voltage problem putting the amp into protect.

Another thing would be to double check all wiring to the speakers. You can also disconnect one speaker at a time to see if you have a short or some problem with wiring to one of the speakers, causing the amp to go into protect.
