does jbl power series subs sound as good as the gti subs?

yes i have 3 10wgti sub woofers and in a ported enclosure.

im not sure if there is any sub out there that wil have sound quality in a ported box like the jbls.

but to answer your question, those 2 subs are totally different with the motor and build structure.

the gti use a motor structure used in pro sound -vrx technology.

basically its a motor that is when the coil is in it resting position, is stays in the the middle of the magnet.

so when you play bass, it reacts faster and responses quicker to the notes and goes back to its resting position faster, unlike conventional subs the coil rests on the bottom of the magnet which in turn can be inefficeint motors. the gti motors are have to be very linear(mean straight up and down) for this process to work and the way to motors are built, they are very effiecent and rarely get hot. (warm most of the time)

the power subs are triple stacked magnet(maybe dual stacked) if not mistaken, but no where close to the gti motors and built.

they might had the same cones and dust caps, but not the same subs.

I have had both subs the gti's are a bit quicker, but the power series gets every bit as low as the gti's. The gti's handle more power, but the power series get pretty loud in a ported box with 500w rms per sub. on the lows they sound almost identical, but on the upper bass the gti's hit harder. If you have the money and the power get the gti's if you don't get the power series they are good subs for the price point. Also i agree that the gti's sound better than most subs, and I have played with almost everything out there. And lastly the power series have a tripple stacked magnet. p.s the power series have a wide basket so watch out its 14.6 inched across so if your going to build a box for it make sure you make the face big enough to accomadate the sub .

anyone ever get a chance to hear a gti woofer?

A pair of 15's in a Tahoe, ~8 cubes ported tuned to 28 hz, powered by a Memphis 4kw.

Takes your breath away. Sound good, but tuning needs tweaked a bit, doesn't have much above 50hz.

I think the GTi's sound better than the Power's, but the Power's do sound pretty nice.

The motor on the GTi's used the DDD motor design, or so I thought. Dunno, guess they've changed their design yet again.
