Compare Fi to DD

Ok my friend is looking to get a 15 inch sub. In performance he wants it close to my BTL. But wants to be different. Price wise from DD we can get a 3515. Can anyone tell me how the 2 subs would compare in similar layouts looking for SQL.

IMO, DD 3515 is a better idea.. it may not be louder, but it'll sound a hell of a lot better on good power & no tensile slap problems.

FWIW my BTL has no tinsil slap issues. We are looking for something to get as loud or close to my BTL. Must be under 400 tho and between 1400and2000 rms

FYI.........there's a like new 3515 in the classifieds. I bought a Sundown amp from the guy, good seller.

not sure how a 3500 series compares in "loudness" compared to a btl...

but i do know it can take 2-3k pretty easily... a guy on the soundpressure forum, nick, ran a 2515 off of a z1.

you can get a used 9500 for around 400 if you look for it.

My 3515 to be exact, i had 1500 on it from the sundown i sold mlstrass, its loud and sounds great. if your under 400, then you should definitly go DD 3515 used. I LOVED the sub just went a different way.

I am tired of the fi vs dd thread. SEARCH! You can get a 9515 for 350.. Dont think you can get a btl cheaper..

Ive heard 3515s and hated the way they sounded. Wasnt distortion or anything like that, I just think that they kind of have a weird tone imo. Sounds sort of hollow to me. They were loud, but not BTL loud.

A more fair comparison would be the BTL and DD 9515, but the 9515 is out of your price range.

The BTL is very popular, and it is for a reason. For the price of a single woofer, you cant beat it.

DD subs are from an entirely different design idealology

BTL uses a big freaking coil with a thick strong cone with a large surround

DD uses a tiny coil in comparison, with a thin cone with a eerom surround

the dd will be more effecient because of a lower MMS and softer spiders.

The BTL is more buillet proof.

If he wants something similar to your BTL why not try the Incriminator Audio Death Penalty?

His current sub is a 15 inch L5 so whatever we get for him has to be and upgrade to that.

Not sure what hole you've been in, but 9515's in good condition can easily be had for $350 or a little cheaper.
