does it take you forever to rip a dvd?

I just d-loaded "imtoo dvd ripper 4" to convert dvds to my pc. Well I am in the process of ripping a two hour dvd and it is taking about 1.5 times of real time to rip it. like it won't be done for 4 or 5 hours.

I am just wondering if its my pc or my burner or the program or what?

I hope there are some people on here who know about this.

The kicker is when I go onto the "imtoo" site. Internet explorer tell me there a problem and shuts down. But only on their site. I would have emailed them already if I could get to the address, but I can't.

I just thought rippin was supposed to be a lot less time than the actual real time of the dvd.

I think I use DVD-shrink. Takes about 12-15 minutes usually to rip to a 4.5gb file. I don't burn them though. Just keep 'em on the computer and watch them through the tv. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

when i actually burn the movie through roxio, it takes 2-4 hours.

I use InterVideo DVD Copy 5 on my PC.

Takes about 45mins on average. You can save it in any format you want,

The Mac Pro does it about 25mins without the need for DVD Decrypter.

Well I am not trying to do anything too special. Just rip this dvd to WMV to my pc and it has already been almost 2 hours in real time now and its at 6% ripped. This can't be right.

Can anyone get the email address for support for me off of http://www.imtoo.com ?

I can't understand that either why it wont allow me to stay on their site.

I have a: AMD K6 3D processor 334 MHz

160 MB of RAM

I don't really know if that is good or bad for the processor. I don't know anything about AMD. I do know I need alot more RAM though. I want to get at least a gig.

thats horrible and it will take forever.

You can do it, but its going to take a very long time to do any encoding on your computer.

You should be able to rip the movie relatively quick, into large .vob files, but converting them to WMV will take a million years.

And you really should do anything else on the computer (surf the web ect) when you are encoding.

Ummm.... How do I put this.... You're trying to find the meaning of life using only an abacus. It's your computer.

For ripping DVD's, it's extremely under-powered. Honestly, I'd say that you have barely enough speed to watch a DVD, let alone rip one. Not a slam, just an observation.

Honest, Get a newer machine at any outlet for $500.00 If your going to be doing any ripping in the furture.

you can get a 500 dollar dell that has built in dvd ripping stuff and you will move up about 10 years and 8 times as fast
