DOes it matter where the fuse holder is??

I just bought my amp kit ad it says that my fuse holder should be within a foot or so of the battery terminal. Is this necesary? I was wanting to run the power wire all the way back to my amp rack in my trunk and then mount my fuse holder onto the amp rack for that cool look. Would this be safe or should I just leave the fuse holder under the hood somewhere??

have the fuse holder 18" or less away from the battery.. it's MUCH safer this way.

i'd rather play it safe than have a "cool" look. and i dont really see how that would look cool, it's jsut a lil box that holds a fuse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

the safety is in the fact that in a car accident you want the power wire damage to be AFTER the fuse so it blows the fuse. In a front end accident the power wire could be chopped very short and close to the battery and if it not fused----- talk about a fire with explosive sulfuric acid

if that's not enough reason, if you have the fuse by the amp and the power wire cooks itself, you're going to have a big ****ing mess all through your car. and that won't look so cool.
