does it matter where the box is ported?

when porting a your subwoofer enclosure. does it matter where the port is placed. (given the fact that i am making an awkward shaped box.)

by pvc do you mean a type of wood? im using MDF board 3/4". i was thinking of building it and just buying tubes off the internet. and placing them in my enclosure.

PVC is a type of pipe. better to do a slot port because more port area, and less chance of port noise. doesn't really matter where the port is aimed.

You can fire the port anywhere other then in the opposite direction the sub is, so is the sub is firing towards the taillights the port shouldnt be firing towards the dash. I'm tired so I hope that makes sense.
