what brand is it i think some of the PAC ones you just wire off the rear speakers and tap the power should be easier then remvoing the dash. i havent messed with one in a few years though. im getting ready to add one into my mercedes though soon.

i meant would it dumb to, intsead of mounting the loc behind the factory HU, to mount it in the rear of car using longer wires from the speaker leads. it sounds stupid when i write it

im gonna be running my amp speaker output wires to the factory harness behind the radio

You can pull the signal from the rear speakers... and use the speaker-level to RCA converter there. It's alot less work than either option, if your amp is in the trunk.

plus, electrically, speaker wires are almost noise-proof, at least much moreso than RCA's. So it would be beneficial to run speaker wires through the car to the LOC with RCA's running a short distance to the amps vs the other way around.
