Does high notes kill subs?

I have some like half blown subs laying around if i use them as normal speakers in which they try to play the higher notes ect. will it kill them?

Really, it would just be a dumb idea in general. They will perform like shit, so why even try? Subwoofers aren't made to produce high notes, hell that's why they have the "sub" in them. Sub bass, ftw. It would be like john madden singing opera.
