does bending aero ports decrease their performance?

when running aero's, how far away do they need to be away from the back of the box? i know with slots it has to be at the least the width of the port away from the back of the box...is that the same with aeros?

so if i was running a 6" aeroport, it would need to be 6" away from the back wall?

my guess would be that performance is indeed decreased unless the port area can be maintained through the bend. Try using those PVC elbows instead of bending the aeroport...just make sure that it matches the dimensions of the aeroport you're using.

well if the original post as read you would see that the port would stay the same diameter throughout. its not like im gonna bend the aero, there would be an attachment on it like an elbow or something to create the bend

im gonna try this if i can get it to work

i may also try a 45 angle if i cant do the above

do you remember where you read about the tuning decresing?
it was in yamahas book i think I read it long ago when i worked part time at paradise a place that designed and built PA speakers. I worked there for about 4 hours a day in the middle of another job. just a helper during busy times mostly. The other good book I had was about church sound reinforcement. Churchs are crazy hard to get right, it has to be good for speaking and music in a crazy shape
