Does anything beat CDT?

i use cdt gold es they cost to much

they sound just a bit better than average

i would never recomend them

what is your budget
if you are on a budget its always best to buy used high end stuff

I run the ES mids and am happy with them. I use LPA tweeters

if your not going to treat your doors with deadener, etc etc. U may as well just grab those type R comps or infinity kappa comps cuz u won't hear too much diff. unless you are gonna do the work to appreciate what CDT, ID, Focal, etcetc have to offer.

I think its more about the tuning rather than which speakers. just make sure you tune them right and you should be satisfied with most speakers.
NO! NO! NO!

I don't care what brands someone wants to look at.. the first step to any install should be the consideration of how drivers will be installed and system goals/needs.... From there you should choose speakers based on things like forecasted response curves, QTC, power handeling, linear throw, ect...

If it's a matter of components then a huge percentage of what you are paying for should be in the passive networks... most people don't have any kind of clue what to look for in a crossover either... but I would agree more expensive sets often have better designs & components...

Either way, tuning (with an eq) is the last step once everything is installed... and ideally is kept to a bare minimum...

This, grab those bottom of the barrel, poor sounding type R's because your not deadening your doors or putting ample power to them. You might as well go get some pyramid from radio shack because they all sound the same without deadener or power. If you will be happy with the sbu par performance that you are buying then why even join this site.

Radioshack doesn't carry pyramid speakers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

But OP, I agree with Haunz. Consider your install and what you're looking for before you begin to look at speakers. This is from personal experience. Nothing worse than spending top dollar on comps and having them sound like shit because they are wrong for your application.

i'm with worst here also. With out adding an amp to correctly power them and then not doing any deadening even a $800 set of comp's will only sound marginally different.
