does anyone T/A walls?

I've seen subwoofer walla that aren't just flat behind the driver. I'm referring to the ones where there is like 8 behind the driver. 4 directly facing another 4. Kinda like

=} {=

=} {=

=} {=

=} {=

(p) (d)

{= bring subs (p) being passenger. (d) being driver

Since you want them all in phase and the rear and front sub can be more than a few feet apart. Wouldn't you want them in phase to take advantage of the 3db peaks that come from in phase frequency? Thus using T/A to accomplish that?

Also. Are those types of wall set ups wired with opposite polarity of each other? Wouldn't have them all in the same polarity create instant cancellation?

If the drivers and soundwaves are controlled VIA 4th order it works, if its an attempt for a normal ported design, there will be cancellation 9 times out of 10
I've also seen them at 45 degree angles as well. That I could see the subs not cancelling but reinforcing each other. Wave functions or weird.. Still I wonder if there is a point where adding woofers starts to make your wall quieter. People throw in and wire up 8 12s and never test to see if they are losing spl.

Chances are I'll never build a wall but if I did. And it was at angle. I'd def only add one driver and cut one hole at a time. Playing with phase, polarity and even T/A to achieve the highest spl. Doing that process one by one till all drivers have a hole cut and its bada$$

On my 4th order the front 4 subs were phase delayed, gained .7 doing that. But my baffles are angled to help with phasing issue, so I didn't expect a huge increase. 10 15's with 5 subs on each side....

How would a wall designed for 8 subs (as an example) work with 1 installed at a time??? Volume and port area would be off the wall wrong....

I do agree that there is a point when more subs becomes a trade off for getting loud, but for demo set ups the majority of the time having more motors to take the power is a good thing...
