to prevent theft? after a while of taking it off and on everytime im starting to get annoyed -.-. its like you pay to have premium shit in ur car and now u have to be paranoid about getting that shit stolen.

I've gotten out of the habit, trying to get back into it. At least when the truck is parked in a high risk area. How I miss my old JVC tape deck/hidden CD changer combo. THAT truck was actually broken into before and they ignored the head unit, never appeared to have seen the Changer, and rifled through the whole rest of the truck looking for valuables. I really wish I could find a hu with a fold-down face plate with a dummy tape deck slot that actually has a CD player behind it.

Used to do that a few years back after my car got broken into,i ended up fukking up the prongs on the hu where the face attached on my pioneer deck, ruined a nice deck, since then i've been like fuk it...and it has worked out for a bout 5 years now.

I did take it off for a few years then stopped, then my $600 deck got stolen, so ever since then I took it off. I take mine off also I get a lot of people with the double din head units asking me after the install if thee is anything they can do. I tell them do not show it off to everyone and get a false factory face plate off ebay. Sort of the same applies for single dins.

dam lol, but you said you should've taken it off? in a parking lot full of people it would make sense not to. and does anyone know how to work with factory alarm? i think my alarm stopped working ever since i installed my pioneer deck. the old deck has an alarm light thing going on. its an acura tl 98 btw.

You gotta have an autopunch feature.. big fist flying out of your dash when alarm is going off & the unit is in teh trouble.
