I find most religious people around here, pretty much strive on their religion, and it would cause them to literally give up on life if they were disproved. People who are not religious are more prone to 'not giving a ****', such as myself, because I am an evolutionist. No matter what evolution played some role in my life.

my question is, what do u guys think would happen if we found out that there is no god/gods??? there are so many religious believers, and people whose lives are based solely upon religious principles/beliefs, also religion makes our world a "better place" IMO b/c it makes people 'good', for lack of a better word. what do u think?

there are endless amounts of questions on this topic. What i would like to know most is why these crop circles are appearing everywhere, and what started life because something tells me that we have no realations to past species. I don't care what scientists say, they are probably wrong. Maybe we are just a test from superintelligient beings. Kinda scary!!!!
I don't believe the last statement at all. I have never been a religious person, I am a very well mannered person, and very kind to all people I meet outside of the internet. Religion does not make anyone good, the people themselves make them 'good'. I know a very religious person that actually called me stupid, and I needed to go back to school because I told them about my beliefs. Sounds like they are a 'good' person, right?

well yes what u say is true, but do u not think that religion makes religious people 'better' than they would be otherwise????
im not saying they are better than u or i, but just generally better. religion tells u dont ****, dont cheat, dont lie, dont deceive, etc. im not saying it wont make a person not **** ever, but if anything would u not say it discourages those actions???

BS. some obviously religious person said to me one time, "so if your not religious, what keeps you from killing people?" i couldn't but help laugh out loud, but i at least tried to express my concerns in a nice way.

also, maybe we are just a different being from them, created from the same 'source' they were, not BY them, and they know we are here and they are curious about us.
also, to really boggle your mind a little bit, if you know about 'worm holes' OR 'traveling faster than the speed of light', you know they are both ways to travel back in time. what if the "superintelligent beings" you are referring to are us, or rather descendants of us, maybe hundreds of thousands, or millions, or billions of years in the future, and they traveled back in time to where we are now?
and who knows, maybe we are the only beings in the entire universe, and then maybe even we were created by a god.
No, I believe that if they weren't religious, that would believe in something else. It's human nature to be 'good' or 'bad', it is the person in question (everyone), that has the choice. We as children are manipulated into thinking what is right and wrong. It is our surroundings that makes us who we are. If they were around good religious people, they would be good. If they were around good non religious people, they would still be good, because they have been influenced by their surroundings. I was a hell raiser when I was younger, and had no respect for anyone, but now that I have been through the crap I have been in, I have learned to give respect before demanding it, or wanting respect. Which, I believe, makes me a good non-religious person, because I will never flat out say you're wrong, without you being able to give me reasoning, and with me being able to give you reasoning as to why I think you're wrong.

Think about it this way. If you were to draw a picture and create a drawing of some sort and quickly realized that you didn't have a pen and paper or any utensil, how would you create it? Out of all these things in the universe, what was the first thing, was it a mass of some sort, or bacteria or molecules, or could it be god. But if god had created all this, then what was he created from? I doubt god just appeared out of nowhere? It all had to have started somewhere, but it doesn't really seem possible.
