Do you believe in God?

I am in no way bashing god believers, but just about 9 out of 10 god believers are out there are commiting countless sins daily, lying, ill feeling...etc

its like you say you believe in god as an insurance or some shit, when your in a ****ed up situation where only thing thats left is hope, you always got god holding you down, its the feeling of security, people feel if he really does exist than you can go to heaven cuz you believed in him. i see good majority of people place god as the MR.Convinience, subconciously or not...

i also see this as a trend/ culture, you believe in god cuz you were taught to do so by your family, you were raised to believe in god, so why not stick with it instead of being the black sheep of the family.

i have no problem with people who believes in god, maybe his existence in their mind has stopped them from commiting a crime, but LETS BE REAL FOR A SECOND...

When you are in a situation when you just wanna **** this kid up you have feud with, seriously hurt him, want to see him dead...(etc), WHAT STOPS YOU FROM DOING THIS? In my life i always hear somethin the along with "Na man... i dont want to be locked up, my parents will kill me..etc"...the fear of breaking the law..punshiments.... NEVA was it like "Na man... god is watching me, i cant do that"... lol

To believe in god with the soul purpose of having morals is one thing, people does need to recognize the right from wrong, but to claim you believe in him, attend church, and commit sins which are taught against you is even worse, you might as well be an Athiest.

Being a Christian does not in any way make you a perfect, law-abiding, baby-kissing member of society. I, on a daily basis, sin. I harbor resentment towards people, I am jealous of other people's belongings or accomplishments, and I mock people. I speed, I roll through stop signs, and I tell little white lies at work. I am human. I am not perfect. Being a Christian means knowing that you are forgiven as long as you put your faith in Jesus. The Bible does not tell you to be perfect. It tells you that you are forgiven.

I myself would not say that a person like that is good. If a person commits those actions, then repents and truly gives it up to Jesus, then whatever that person did is between them and the Lord. If someone who says that they truly love the Lord, and then does such things, does seem very hypocritical. Yet, it is still between them and God. One day, they will have to stand in front of God and give an account of what they did. Believe me, this concept was the biggest thing that kept me from giving my life to the Lord. But the one ingredient that was missing in my life was faith. I also had to have everything proved to me, whether through science or first-hand experience. Once you take that step, and truly have faith, then the Lord will work in your life, and prove that your faith is not in vain.

I can't find it anywhere for some reason but I know the bible says "not to disregard the wisdom of the ages". Do you think your intellect out weighs centuries of humans just like you?

There is a God and He does communicate with His creation. What the bible says is true.

I am going to church right now. Hopefully I will bring you back something that will spark a fire inside of you.

Agnosticism is the only belief that makes sense.

Human beings are too small in teh grand scheme of things to have any idea whether there is a god, or if so, if he is sentient, or even one entity, or even cares about us.

I think it's arrogant to assume that yes there is a god, yes he's exactly the way religions have described him, and that he cares about every one of our problems.

God left his word in the bible etc for all of use to live in peace and harmony not to seperate in groups(muslims, christians, catholics etc) wich has caused many conflicts through out history. I use to be a so called christian but i came to a conclusion that religion is garbage, the word of God and himself is all that matters to me, not some shit called religion, God didnt create religion nor is he religion. No, we're not brainwashed. We just have a different set of beliefs than you. I'm not here to try to convert anyone...I just want to share my story and experiences with those of you who have commented in this thread, and any one of the thousands of people who have read this thread but haven't posted. I love that there are so many of you who have taken the time to comment here, whether positive or not.

Great post. Out of curiosity, do you read the Bible regularly? I'm not trying to prod you into an argument...I honestly want to know. Also, what brought you to the conclusion that religion is crap? Was it a human fault, or a God thing?

I think it's arrogant to assume that yes there is a god, yes he's exactly the way religions have described him, and that he cares about every one of our problems.

And the reason I am agnostic instead of atheistic is because I see it as JUST as ignorant to say "no, there definitely is no god".

We just don't have any proof of any order beyond our little field of human vision either way.

Accepting the mystery is sort of beautiful to me. Almost spiritual.

What you are calling the 'word of god' are really the words of men. God didn't write that book.

Are you aware that when the Dead Sea Scrolls were found and translated the words on those pages didn't deviate one word from the present day Old Testament?

The Jews have a system that guarantees one hundred percent accuracy when scribing a new Bible. It involves counting every single Hebrew character on a page and it it is not exact the text is thrown away and rescribed.

For someone who doesn't put their faith in God, to hear that God wrote the Bible through men, sounds like fantasy, I understand that. There is a lot about Christianity that can only be accepted through faith. And the faith comes through seeing, and most importantly letting, God work in your life.
