i think what hes sayin.... the bible will tell you exactly who and wat god is. there is absolution in who God is... its the people that misconstrew and pervert the image of god. they ignore what the bible says and create thier own wacky world with thier wacky god.

sorry to but in...
I understood that; my point was unless you've had a personal visit, you have absolutely no way of knowing better than the next guy that the God in the Bible is actually the "true" God, any more than Allah or a Jewish faith or a Hindu deity or a magical tree in the woods. That's why it's called "faith" and not "science" - nobody can tell you you're flat out wrong with any certainity.

Personally, I think the Bible is nothing more than a collection of texts assembled over hundreds of years, probably started because a story about a fearsome and all-powerful deity seemed a good way to keep the peasants working and relatively under control. There's nothing in the Ten Commandments that when taken out of a religious context seem all that crazy...it's mostly common sense, but add in a good invisible man story and it's more effective.

I don't really care what religion others believe in, as long as they don't try to force it on others. It just strikes me that some think there's a "right" and "wrong" on an issue that's impossible to know for certain //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i believe in God and i am saved, and on my way to heaven, but believe what u want to, not trying to make u change your beliefs, but when i person sins, he/she seperates himself/herself from God, if u are seperated from God how can he protect you? these people you are refering to must have had sin in there life. the bible says all sins will be paid for, here on earth or in heaven at the throne of judgement. the bible also says we must die out to sin daily, in other words ask God for forgivess.

You say that you have been saved? Why are you asking God to forgive you if you believe that he already has? This is another major misunderstanding of Christianity today, once you are saved and are a "true believer" you don't NEED to ask for forgiveness, because you rest in the fact that you have already been forgiven, you have received grace and are free to live according to God's will.

Note: I don't just argue with people who aren't Christians! Many "Christians" today don't even know what it means...

If the Ten Commandments is "common sense", then why can't we even obey them?

I don't force my religion on people, however, I want to share with people what I believe and what God has done in my life and how He has changed my life. This is what God has called me to do and I want to obey Him.

Yes I believe in God. I didnt use to though. I was in a bad accident in 96 and from then on I started to believe. I am not a very religous person at all. I dont go to church even though sometimes I think I should. I guess what I am trying to say is to the original thread starter is that you say if god was looking out for us would he let bad things happen to us in the first place. I answer with maybe he does things like this to give us non believers at the time a WAKE UP CALL! The day I got in my accident was the day I was going to pay for my girlfriends abortion. Thing was it wasnt even my child! Makes you think, it really does. Needless to say I didnt give her the money and we broke up over it. I made a wise decision. Just lost a sweet car over it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I past an anti abortion team outside a clinic with pictures of the dead babies and it makes you feel pretty bad. People are legally being put to death. I don't understand how you have some people that are so pro-abortion that they celebrate it. Even if you're for the right to abortion it's not something to be proud of or happy about.

its interesting becuase the Jews, hindus, and "christians" all have the same basic GOD its the same being, just different names.

i can almost agree with you on the bible... almost //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif the stuff that happened gazillions of years ago, who the heck knows what happend? but as for the newer testament (the one with jesus and stuff) i think that stuff is TOTALLY true. that stuf actually happend

People being idiots has nothing to do with a God or not, it's just people being stupid //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
so how can you call someone stupid and say that they aren't acting right if there are not laws given to us by God? Because if there is no God, then there are no rules!

I pray that you would believe in the sufficiency of the entire Bible and not just some of it. God is sovereign and everything that is in there was meant to be in there.

God is what we make him to be,its not a commercial gimmick eveywhere, just here in the good ole USA - we like our god to be like McDonalds and Apple piewe like our preachers to be millionares and live in gaudy houses

we like to film our time with god and place it on TV so our mega church can get some finacial benifit and try to make the ignorant fear us into beliveing our values are correct............Hypocracy,greed and lies..............

Bible thumping ignorant hypocrates

The truth is God is what you make him to be,he doesnt care how you believe in him as long as its your belief, thats the great thing about god's is easy like that...

Me myself,I believe what I wish to believe and its none of anyones busniness

so **** off you little slime dog and get off my back

God isn't what you make him to be. He is what he is. You could put a label on something and call it God but that doesn't make it God.

i DO believe in all the bible haha. if i didnt why would i be defending it?

it is true that some of the stories were lost (apocrypha) and human error has a crapload to do with it. that is also a heated debate even within the church.

One more thing, you say you I won't harm you, so you don't harm me. I won't take your stuff, so you don't take my stuff. What is the Biblical concept, love your neighbor as yourself? So has God placed that in your heart? I think so.
I don't think that proves I have the love of god in my heart. Only that it's basic common sense from most any intelligent living being that wishes to survive another day. If I don't want to be harmed, I shouldn't harm other people and shouldn't allow people to harm each other.

It doesn't take an all-knowing being to come to that simple, logical conclusion.

The fact that you think it is wrong to harm others proves that there is a God. Do animals care about harming one another? No! They don't even think about it. So why do we if we are just animals created from some random occurence and have evolved into what we are now? God has made us in His image and given us laws that are indented in us.

I honestly think that if you don't believe in God, then you can't believe in sin, you can't believe in laws, you can't believe in violence, because none of it really matters, we are just animals that will soon go back to the earth and our existence is pointless and meaningless.

i understand your point squeak, but where do all these rules come from? like where did they originate? and where the heck does logic come from?
