so how can you call someone stupid and say that they aren't acting right if there are not laws given to us by God? Because if there is no God, then there are no rules!
What happens when you throw man's ability to reason into the mix? Reason is the ability to control one's emotions and make choices that affect the "common good." Once men realize that they would be better off working together and doing things for a reason, the laws of man come in to play.

If the Ten Commandments is "common sense", then why can't we even obey them?

Common sense may not be inborn but may be a thought pattern that we are taught from birth. This would explain why what many in society call normal, is acutally abnormal for me. The thought pattern of Americans is being changed. So really as society continues to change the acceptance of the 10 Commandments will fall. Adjustments will be made to rantionalize breaking the 10 commandments.

That's one thing I like about the 10 commandments and God's measure of right and wrong; they never change. I can choose to break them but they don't change and have amendments to fit society. They're a great measuring stick.

I think the root of hatred towards God and right and wrong comes down to people not wanting to hear what they do is wrong. I personally would rather know I'm doing wrong than ignore it and say what I'm doing is okay because it only affects myself or it's okay because it makes me feel good.

I also believe that some people fear the idea that there may be a judgement where a higher power decides what your afterlife will be.

The fact that you think it is wrong to harm others proves that there is a God. Do animals care about harming one another? No! They don't even think about it. So why do we if we are just animals created from some random occurence and have evolved into what we are now? God has made us in His image and given us laws that are indented in us.
I honestly think that if you don't believe in God, then you can't believe in sin, you can't believe in laws, you can't believe in violence, because none of it really matters, we are just animals that will soon go back to the earth and our existence is pointless and meaningless.
If you'd like to consider us just animals without a God, consider that we are extremely smart animals, and that our reasoning skills are superior to most other species.

"Once the people begin to reason, all is lost" -Voltaire

"Reason is the root of all evil" -Me

Adam "reasoned" that it would be best if he ate the fruit from the tree, thus bringing sin into the world, all sin has come from and been caused by man's "reasoning". That is where we messed up, instead of listening to God, we "reasoned" on our own. But hey, I guess Adam's "reasoning" did affect your so-called "common good", but negatlively.

If I knew god existed and he TOLD me not to eat the fruit, I wouldn't eat the fruit and I would have a reason not to. If you would refer to my previous post, you would see that reasoning is the ability to control one's emotions, something that Adam clearly failed.

i understand your point squeak, but where do all these rules come from? like where did they originate? and where the heck does logic come from?
From man, and our ability to think and process information on a higher level than any other life form on earth.

logic and reason > folk stories and mythology

Prove the bible is true! Prove it all really happened as it was written! Here is the deal- you can't, but you believe and that's fine, but you can't make broad statements about humanity without proof and say "see, there is no explanation so it was God"

Dude, I don't want to be mean but how are you gonna come in here and start talking about something like this when you don't even know the meaning of "reason"? Reason is the ability to control one's emotions? NO kid! SELF-CONTROL is the ability to control one's emotions. REASONING involves "thinking", therefore, Adam "thought", his "reasoning" led him to make a very bad decision.

Don't start saying stuff that is absolutely wrong.

No, I can't prove to you that the Bible is true! However, I do have faith and believe that it is true. And no matter how much I argue or give explanations to people, it is only God who can show them that the Bible is true and make them believe. So, do this for me: Read the Bible every day, really look into it and interpret and study it. And pray daily that God would reveal truth to you through His Word and show you and prove to you that the Bible is true.
