i beleave in god, but my belief structure is a little differnt. in al religions the main thing that sticks out is that god loves all his children, but in some religions it says that if you sin you will goto hell, i dont see how love everyone and eveyrhting how we could be sentenced to hell. where im going with this i donno i havent really decided but i belieave he is real.
that made very little since i know
Many people do not believe that God can put "good" people in hell. However, the Bible tells us that no man is good. (Psalm 53:3) The fact is, that we are sinful, we rebelled against God. One characteristic of God that many people do not understand today is God wrath and his justice. There are more verses about God's wrath in the Bible than about his love. What does it mean that God is just? For example, if someone killed one of your family members would you not want them to be punished for it? It is the same way with God, we have turned from God, we DESERVE hell because of it. It is the punishment for our sin.

okay i guess i can try to answer your question here...

okay ill try to answer the best i can im a little rusty on my theology.... I know it sounds like a cop-out, but if it was your time to go, its your time to go. think about it, if God controlled everything that happened to everyone, there would be NO free will. we would have no hearts, no emotions... we would be robots, and God's intention for us was not to be robots, but to love one another. Of course there IS divine intervention (kinda like Pulp Fiction //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif) if the muggers gun stopped, or he dropped dead, then it wasnt your time to go. Remember you also have to think selflessly... in your death, who would be effected in a positive way? when my gramma died, my aunt came over from CO and i found out i had some very nice connections //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif without my grammas death, i would have never known.

i do not believe in free will, I believe that God is sovereign and control of everything? Why? Because I believe in the Bible and the Bible says that. For instance, every religion in the world (besides Christianity) believes that man can be good enough to get to heaven, that it is us who choose God. This is actually one of the major misunderstandings within Christianity today, many Christians believe that they "chose" God. The Bible says that no man is good, that our most righteous acts are like filthy rags to God, we have nothing to offer God. We can be as good as we want but that will not get us to heaven. The only way is through belief in Christ, because Chrsit lived a perfect life, and once we are saved, God exchanges our sin with Christ's perfection so God sees us as perfect. This is what "grace" is in the Bible.

WHAT??? doesnt the bible also say that we have free will?

also didnt you say you read the book mere christianity by cs lewis? he has like a whole sectoin on free will. without free will we would be "machina" (or something like that lol)

God is what we make him to be,its not a commercial gimmick eveywhere, just here in the good ole USA - we like our god to be like McDonalds and Apple piewe like our preachers to be millionares and live in gaudy houses

we like to film our time with god and place it on TV so our mega church can get some finacial benifit and try to make the ignorant fear us into beliveing our values are correct............Hypocracy,greed and lies..............

Bible thumping ignorant hypocrates

The truth is God is what you make him to be,he doesnt care how you believe in him as long as its your belief, thats the great thing about god's is easy like that...

Me myself,I believe what I wish to believe and its none of anyones busniness

so **** off you little slime dog and get off my back
God is who we make him to be? So God will compromis himself and everything he is just to make you feel good? I dont think so, if you read the Bible, God will TELL you who he is.

Playing devil's advocate here (pun not intended //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif), how do you know that his interpretation of faith is any better or worse than yours? This is a problem I have with organized religion - there are so many out there, yet each one thinks it's the right one? They all can't be right.

There is much debate even within Chrsitianity on free will. Look at it this way, the Bible says that God knew you before you even entered the world. God knew us individually and he knew everything that would happen before it was even created. So if God knew all this, if he knew sin would come into the world, and he knew there would be murder, ****, and everything else, could he not have changed it if he wanted to? Or did he not let it be? The fact is that God could have planned everything out differently if he had wanted to, but he didn't, so everything that happens is how God has planned it from the beginning, therefore there is no free will, everything has been pre-determined.

Free will vs. predestination is a very heated debate in the Bible, but if you truly read and understand the Bible, you will believe in predestination. Especially if you become saved like I have.

If you were God of the universe, would you want someone to tell you who you were?

I agree that all religions can't be right....I could explain to you why Christianity is so radically different from every other religion, but it is God who has to change your heart so that you may believe.

i think what hes sayin.... the bible will tell you exactly who and wat god is. there is absolution in who God is... its the people that misconstrew and pervert the image of god. they ignore what the bible says and create thier own wacky world with thier wacky god.

sorry to but in...

You say that you are a very scientific person, and if you know anything about the beginning of the universe, you would see that there clearly is a God.
I disagree thoroughly. We have a good understanding of how the universe came to be, all except the first few milliseconds at the very beginning (there are theories, but nothing that has been proven via the scientific method), and none of it involves any kind of intelligent design.

I don't really see how that clearly shows there to be a god....only that our scientific method has yet to describe one of the events of the universe (of which there are many not fully understood by our science.....but that doesn't prove there is a god either, only that our scientific understanding of the universe isn't 100% complete yet).

The mere fact that everyone has a concept inside them of good and evil proves the existence of God. If there was not a God, then we are just animals walking around, and our life is pointless and has no meaning to it. Therefore, if I were to kill you, it wouldn't matter, someone would replace you eventually, no one would care. But would you let me kill you? NO, because you truly believe that it is wrong and you truly value you your life for what it is. So why do we think that we have somewhat importance? Because that is how God made us, in His image.
Again, I'd disagree.

With or without a god, I can decide what I view as being morally or ethically wrong. I don't want you to harm me, hence I wouldn't harm you. I don't want you to take my possessions, hence I wouldn't take yours. I can value my life without god. I can value the time I spend with my family. I can value the time I spend with my friends. I enjoy that time, and don't want it to end any sooner than need be.

Along with that, societal values dictate good and evil. From birth we are taught that this action is wrong, this action is right. It's the basis on which we operate daily. We are conforming to the world around us, as man has shaped it.

yes he allowed sin into the world... he ALLOWED adam and eve to make that decision to screw up humanity. Eve and adam made the decision to eat the fruit. Sinning is the last thing on Gods mind.

which is why i believe both free will and gods will exist at the same time. like i said earlier... its a pradox

I don't believe we will ever know how the beginning of the universe began. The reason that people believe there wasn't a God is because they stopped putting science and theology together. If you read books now about the Creation, you will see that you will have to deny absolute scientific facts to count out God in creation.

One more thing, you say you I won't harm you, so you don't harm me. I won't take your stuff, so you don't take my stuff. What is the Biblical concept, love your neighbor as yourself? So has God placed that in your heart? I think so.

Yes, But im not going to discuss. simply because I dont believe in forcing religion on anyone else, and thats what this thread is going to turn into.

You can't force someone to believe in or not believe in God. Discussing religion is not forcing religion on another person although the school system and government would like you to think that.
