I think people use religion as a crutch to explain the unexplainable. How did we all get here, you have your thoughts and I have mine, but I can't say you are wrong, and you can't say I am. Why do bad things happen to good people? who knows- nobody. Why to good things happen to bad people? same answer. I used to believe, but I just haven't felt at home or at peace with the whole concept of christianity for a long time. It is also fueled by the extreme hypocricy of about every christian I know, especially my sister in law and her husband. I am dejected that so many christians feel they have a right to look down their nose at others as if they are somehow more holy than others, and that gives them a right to preach/talk down to me. If they want to go to church every Sunday, and that gives them peace and direction...great, but don't give me shit for not going. I feel far closer to god riding my mountain bike in the woods or suffering up a long climb on my road bike than I ever had in some building where some dude stands up behind a pulpit and tells me what a loser I am and how thankfully it doesn't matter because of Jesus, and that I am better than my neighbors because I was there to hear him tell me and they weren't. I really don't know what I believe anymore, it all seems like such a bunch of bullshit......

Me myself,I believe what I wish to believe and its none of anyones busninessso **** off you little slime dog and get off my back
was that directed towards me?

spoken like a true bible belter from the midsouth...

Ya'll Sin Mon-Sat and pretend to ask for forgivness on Sunday

then do it all over again week after week...

Define "Sin"....

it maybe relative to your beliefs not necessarily mine
im confused on your beliefs....cuz looks like you are a relativist. If you dont believe in God, cool, but if you do, GOD (THE God not what we make "god" to be) + relativity = not compatible.

"Church" does not equate to believing in God, so it's irrelevant to say that you don't believe in God just because of the "bad" things about church. I personally believe, acknowledge, trust, depend, rely, and know that he's my Lord & Savior.

The thing people say is, "If there is a "god", this or that wouldn't have happened." I guess people think that if a "god" exists, that everything would be just perfect and we wouldn't have any problems in life. On the other hand, I believe that God will get us through the problems we have in life.

^^^ he also wont give us more than we can handle either. so we can actually work through things and not take the easy way out. it builds character //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Thats a pretty bold claim that can be interpreted many ways... like Plato said "Character is destiny."

I can't believe I missed this thread...oh well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I don't believe in organized religion. I wouldn't say I'm a complete atheist because I haven't quite decided if there ever was a higher being out there...but I'm pretty **** sure that even if there is, you don't need to follow someone else's interpretation of what to believe. I think that religion is something that was necessary for survival in times past when people lived a lot closer to death than we do today, but I'm not one to believe that any higher power plays a role in our lives today.

A claim I would disagree with...because the ******* rate is high enough to suggest that people do get handed more than they deal with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

******* is just a way of escape. people can work through things....they just dont have the balls to do it.

Yup, that pretty much proves that character is destiny and can not always be tributed to a God.

which of course is tributed to free will.

Well, either you believe everything in life is a test, or everything is just the flow of natural events unfolding. Like Albert Einstein said:

"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle."

i dont necesarily agree with that statement
