Do these speakers look good for DIY components?

Those Davis drivers look nice from the specs... you'll want it in an enclosure of some sort though, judging from the qts alone its more of a ported box driver... the Dayton RS-180 is a good DIY mid for regular IB door use.

The XT is a great tweet... BUT, its also got a 4.5 inch (or so) diameter. The JL XR components used a modified version of the XT tweeter and its more car audio sized... if possible i'd track down one of those...

Cheaper and smaller FTW. Thanks bud.
OK. How the hell do I vent those mids?

I ran it in WinISD and for flat response I need an enclosure size of .036 cu ft and a 1" port with a length of 30", wtf???
That would be true if you wanted a flat response to 30hz, which is unrealistic... ported mids are usually in an enclosure of around .3 cubes and tuned to 100hz or so. fiberglass would be the only way to get that much airspace inside the average car's door...

OMJESUS!
you have no idea how much i needed that link lol...

i've been looking to pick up a set of XR tweets for the longest, but had no idea where to look...

That's the same tweeter in the AA set and matches NICELY with the poly mids. I'm very happy with the sound of both. Mids are very smooth and easy to listen to for extended periods at loud volumes.
