Do my Tweeters need a amp or some other idea? Thanks

I have installed a set of American Bass VFL 8's into my truck along with a set of CCX Cresendo 6.5 components that I've had for a long time. (over 5 years) When we were installing the components I found out that both the inline Crossovers and the tweeters were done for, the cap things on the crossover had feel apart and the tweeters are blown.

I ordered a pair of Skar TWS-01 Tweeters and installed them but with out having a in-line passive crossover I hooked them to my head unit a Kenwood DDX774. They can't keep up, the volume is way to low.

I have the Cresendo 6.5's on a Boston Acoustic 2125 Amp and I'm happy with them but the tweeters are not getting enough power and can't keep up. I was wondering what are my options? Those Skar tweeters come with a small in line cross over but I'm not sure if I can hook them to my amp with just it or not.

So, Do I need to buy a small amp for tweeters? A 4-channel amp for tweeters and mids? or can I hook those tweeters to the amp I have now along with the 6.5 mids? Should I just buy pair of 6x9 or aother set of components? I don't know enough about this to know what exactly I need to do.

Thanks very much for the help and info

I like EVERY SPEAKER FILTERED/AMPLIFIED on all my systems. The Tweeters you have do have an in-line crossover..Will be fine adding to your Mids bringing towards a 2 ohm stereo load that your amp should be able to handle just fine.Just be sure to reset your gains for each ch. properly,as the tweeters only handle 40 watts RMS each.I myself, run my tweets on theyre own amplifier,as well as all speakers/pairs.You should be able to hear your tweeters with some power on them, and should blend in a bit better.Yet, 40 watts??? for front staging is pretty weak.Id buy some Y-splitters,for ea. Ch. of your Boston amp,and Slave/add a small 30-50x2(Cheap Alpine 3522 will work perfect) amp for the tweets so that you can keep those 6.5s singing.

Thank you very much audiobaun for the help. I bought those Skar tweeters at 40 watts because in my mind I thought they would be perfect for running on the head unit. (didn't know what I was doing) but you can not hear them on the HU. Should I buy another pair of tweeter that take more watts because I m running them in my dash for a front stage? I can get the Amp and a better set of tweeters and will most likely be happy then. I'm very happy with my whole set up now, except for the tweeters, your reply helped me out a lot thanks for taking the time to help some one a little new to this.

Id still buy/apply some power for the tweeters that you have.A good used Alpine 3522 isnt expensive, and doesnt tax a hell of alot from your supply, and are some of the best SQ amps made, even up to date($40 -50 bucks shipped) and a pair of Y-splitters for like $20 bucks, wiring maybe $20 bucks, and some of your time, and I think you will be very pleased.Id at least give those tweeters a chance/run since you have them. You may enjoy them. This will allow you to be able to enjoy your front staging with some power.Every system is different and and sounds different to others.I like LOUD tweets or need to apply for my staging needs at the moment for keeping up with what i have installed.yet, 40 watts may be all you need to enjoy and blend with your system installed. Most deff better than HU power(maybe 5-15 watts rms at best?)And still not as clean as amplified power most of the time unless you just have an exceptional HU to begin with.

Thanks very much for the help. I was lucky and found a Alpine V-Power MRP-T220 Amp from a guy and bought it for $20. It should be perfect for my tweeters.
