Do I sell or keep??

Okay pulled a loan from the boss man no interest 3200.00 is the amount.

Originally pulled loan for a car im familiar with because i own one. This is a very solid car needs work on a/c minor leak (could be bigger then seams who knows, prob isnt). Okay car is a 2000 Mercury Sable LS (top of line model) it loaded with everything, 100 thousand miles, grandma owned one owner, no accidents. Very nice car. Wants 3200 for it.

I cant really keep my car as I am already making payments on a new one. Ins on 3 cars would be too much. 3 cars to maintain maybe pushing it (not really sure) I say this because my other sable is my project car for audio, rims, etc. Id be paying this loan back monthly, and dont think Id have the money to continue working on it the way Id want to.

This is my current sable

Second option is to take the 3200.00 and swap out the rack and pinion, put new struts all the way around, get the a/c running brand new, and keep what might be left. This car has 170 thousand miles and never really gave me problems. Id be doing the rack and pinion (yes ive done it before im not a newbie on mechs) and the suspension. A/c would be a shop i trust in town. and use the rest for the car. The paint in pic does have flaws, clear chipping, imperfections. Interior needs to be redone. and system is all temporary as well. two sealed 12's on a 600rms amp. The sable i own in picture is a 2002 Mercury Sable GS lower end model, less features but still decent. Needs work though.

Financial wise i bring in 1800 take home and have 800 in bills. Not including expenses gas, things that pop up, higher then usual bills, monthly maintenance on cars, the loan i just pulled prob like 200 a month tops.

Question is what do you all think??

Something I live by whenever possible is: If I can't afford it, don't buy it.

That being said, what is your 3rd vehicle that you are making payments on?

Personally, I would sell the 2002, buy the 2000 (less miles, more features, less things to fix so it seems) and turn it into a project car or a daily car and have the unknown 3rd car be a project car.

Obviously I am not aware of all the details of the situation. But from a vague outer view, that's my opinion.

Lastly, If the 2000 will not end up saving you money in the long run, why get it?

My third vehicle is a 2009 Cobalt for the lady lol. Well the 2000 would save me in repairs, struts, rack n pinion leak, not to mention the 500 bucks of deadner in the trunk. and My first system. The idea was to have a daily driver (2000 sable) and my project car (shown above) but just kinda stuck between the two ideas.

The one issue I would have with 3 cars is the insurance on them all.

I have turned my daily driver into my project car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Just don't break anything, or modify anything that can't be replaced for cheap when ready to sell and you could do that.

However, if you are looking to overhaul the entire charging system and wall it off, that's a different story entirely.

Cobalt is chicks car

Sable shown above is my car, will be unusable to someone out of the car audio world when it is done. Custom rear seating area (no seats), no trunk (speakers and box)

New Sable (wanted to buy) for daily driving.

Didnt quiet understand your post im trying to decide whether to buy or not.

Offer 2900 cash on the 2000, sell the other one on craigslist (with the system and advertise it slightly ghetto) .

Pay the extra cash you saved back into the loan.

I would say sell the one with 170 on it. i have a taurus and my buddy had one, 2000 and 2001 and around the same mileage the rack/pinion gave problems, alt went out, window regulator on the drivers side went out and the ****** slips on both. I cant speak for the previous owners driving but we treated them well in our hands. I would look to something else. Just look around and see what you can get.

See and thats another thing too the rack and pinion started leaking because of me (stupid u turn i did the other day) because it had been replaced b4 lol , the alternator has been replaced, and the "****** slip" you talked about could have been what i thought it was too, turned out to be the camshaft sensor. also replaced I have done so much work to this car and keep it running with only best parts and fluids etc ONly things i havent touched are the transmission and engine which both seem working decent (knock on wood). So that also plays into my confusion...
