Do I Need An Alternator????

whats the big deal about a HO alt?? ive done the big 3, i have 1/0 gauge ran through out the whole truck with no dimming problems my battery meter goes from 14 down to 13v after playing it very loud. i have 7 tvs running a kicker x2500 watt amp,a crossover, a 600watt hifonics 4 channel amp,a yellow top up front and a kinetic 1400 in da back with a 105a factory alt. i here nor see any problem. do i need an alt???? am i loosing power or something ????? and where could i get one for around 250$ or less 2004 chevy tahoe?????

The deal with high output alternators is to support Extremely high power systems in cars with smaller output unit. Some imports have 70 amp (cruise output) alternators so huge systems (say a 1000W system) are going to hog all of the power.

Also Pickups/SUVs with high power accessories (lights winches e-fans etc) require great deal of power to run especially at lower RPM

This is one of those situations where the demand says you need bigger than 105A, but the results say otherwise. It's why people always say install it first and see where you're at. Appearently, you're fine.

However, in the long run you may see your voltage start to fall, so keep an eye on it.
