Do I have to take off my neg bat terminal to plug/unplug my speaker wire?

Well I've been taking off my negative battery terminal each time I decided to adjust something, just because I'm afraid of being electrocuted...

When setting my gains w/ a DMM, I'm supposed to unplug the sub's speaker wires from the amp. Well I take off the neg bat terminal before I do this, put it back on after I take out the speaker wire, then I set my gains, then take off bat terminal, then plug speaker wire back in, then put bat terminal back on.

Will something bad happen if I unplug/plug in the sub's speaker wires into the amp while the negative battery terminal is connected?

just stop being a pansy, it's a 12volt batter, it won't kill you. Also I've never been shocked and I've done it more times than I can count, they do spark tho.

Lol the ONLY time i spark when connecting shit when someone bumps into me and my power touches my ground terminal. Ive never had anything spark though at all you will be fine just rmemeber the rule of thumb... Respect electricity the minute you stop you get fried..

don't be afraid to electrocute yourself, it'd be pretty hard to do that off a 12V system. the only thing you should be afraid of is blowing up something by touching power to ground without a fuse to save the day.
