do different volt preouts matter?

the more voltage u can get from a pre-out the less u have to turn up the gain on an amp. the more u have to turn the gain up on an amp the more CHANCE you'll get distortion. but more than most of the times having a weak pre-out won't really matter. unless you've got a really crappy decc called roccwood. im jk about that last part.. but i wouldnt really worry about the preout voltage if i were someone like you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

first preout voltage is overated. you really want to look for low impedence preouts like what eclipse offers. you shouldn't get noise in your system because you run lower voltage preouts and have to turn up the gain. that means something is wrong in the install. preout voltage is just a way to level match your amps. read the gain tutorial

so i should basically just go for the highest voltage possible, but it really dosent even matter....

go by features on the deck that you want/like and try to find low impedence preouts, like what the eclipse decks offer. what decks are you looking at and how much you willing to spend? what features do you want?

So how much of a difference do you really think there is between an Eclipse deck with a pre out impedance of 55 ohm and a Premier deck of 100ohm?? I'm thinking probably not much but I surely don't know for sure.

Difference is the Premier's preouts decide for themselves when they want to work or not...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/ohsnap.gif.17c4c91be09a7a4a3995fb7145adac39.gif

Shut up.

LMFAO I just finally sent back that other 860.....

You can also STFU.

Seriously though, does anyone want to answer my initial question about the difference in the pre outs?? Or am I just going to get jokes from the Eclipse fans.??

the difference i noticed was negligible (sp?) i used to be a hardcore pioneer person but then got an eclipse and have changed my interest in decks now.

bottom line, does the pre-out voltage make that much of a difference?
For the most part.....NOPE.

Only if you are having noise problems in your system related to having a higher gain setting. Which, with the quality of amplifiers today, having a higher gain setting isn't that big of a deal.

Basically......don't put preout voltage as your #1 priority when selecting headunits. Look for a deck with the features you want (in terms of EQ, crossovers, MP3, aux input, aethestics, etc) at a price you can afford.
