Eclipse AVN5495 30gig HDD, anyway to attach to computer

Was wondering if anyone has tried to remove the HD from the unit and attach it to a computer and see if its possible to maybe transfer my MP3s directly to it. I know I know the unit doesnt actually store them as MP3s, but wondering if someone has hacked it have they found a way to convert the audio to transfer to the HD?

I like the unit, but I gotta tell you the setup of the whole cd to hd is crazy, each cd gets its own album, now its all good an all, but it takes me days to enter the name of songs on the tracks when it cant find it. Then trying to enter 200+ songs to a single playlist also takes days. Almost makes me want to just give up and just use the mp3 cds I used to in my AVN2454 unit.

If no one has tried to hook it up to a computer I may give it a shot, it looks like a standard laptop style HD. Only thing Im not sure about is how it comes out, whether it actually can come out from behind the face or do I have to dismantle the whole unit.

I agree. The setup is pretty poor. The wierd thing is that the Asian models look like the Hard drive comes out for this reason. If it wasn't for the cost of the HU, I would suggest trying it. If windows doesn't recognize the drive then it is not a fat32 or NTSF structure. Software like partition magic is pretty good for recognizing fat32, NTSF, and Unix based structures. You could then get a idea of what operating core might be needed. Windows fat 32, xp's NTSF, Linux based, or proprietary. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to call and ask eclipse tech support. At the least, they should know your dislikes on the proceedure.
