The short answer is no. For one thing, Image Dynamics would not have just brought out a new XS series component in the +$500 range if they sounded bad.

Biggest problem, as I see it, is a limited number of good values/high quality component systems to choose from in a 6X9 size, and custom installation can sometimes be easier with conventional round speakers... a 6X9 hole saw would rip your arm off.
