Does anyone know the difference between the 2?

I know the DLS R6.2 is a replacement for the R6A. I'm also not sure which is the newer/older of the 2 sets. I was wanting to go with these because the research I've done says that they have top quality sound and the tweeter isn't "bright" like most other component speakers on the market (Focal, Massive audio, Image Dynamics). They are also right around $200, which is all I'm willing to spend on my front components.

There's also a set of DLS Reference UR6S (old school but from the Ultimate line) that I can get in the same price range.

R6.2 Specs:

Reference series R6.2 is a new 16,5 cm (6,5") 2-way component with a sound in top class. The R6.2 have a brand new mid range driver and cross over.

The mid range cone is made from black coated fiberglass, and the T-yoke is copper covered.

Due to the features above the bass is more tight and the mid range have higher resolution.

The tweeter in this system is T-25, 25mm soft dome.

The parameters are fine tuned to play perfect in a car door,

- Powerful magnet system.

- Cone made of black coted fibreglass.

- Crossovers with selectable tweeter level.

- 25 mm silk dome tweeter T25.

- Grilles are included.

Specs:

Woofer size 16,5 cm (6,5")

Tweeter T25, 25 mm (1") silk dome tweeter

Crossover point (Hz) 5000 Hz

Size of filter box 145 x 85 x 45 mm ( 5,71 x 3,35 x 1,77")

Outer diameter of woofer 165 mm (6,5")

Magnet size 100 mm (3,94")

Mounting depth 78 mm ( 3,07")

RM6.2 Specs:

Reference RM6.2 is a 16,5 cm (6,5") 2-way component with an incredible bass.

- Powerful magnet system.

- Designed to play loud but still with full control and good sound quality.

- Crossovers with selectable tweeter level in four steps.

- Aluminium cone and dual upper surround.

- 25 mm silk dome tweeter T25.

- Grilles are included.

NOTE! The speaker impedance is 3 ohm. If you plan to connect the RM6.2 in bridge mode the amplifier must be 1 ohm stable. Not suitable for CA41 and CA51 amps.

So I take it that nobody knows..... no worries, neither do I.

What I was able to gather from the info:

Same:

Tweeter

Frequency Response

Power Handling

R6.2

More Sensitivity, so should be louder overall

Higher crossover point (won't be a noticeable difference)

RM6.2

3 ohm woofer + larger magnet = more bass?

Lower crossover point (won't be a noticeable difference)

The RM6.2 are $25 more.

I'm going to be installing these in the doors of a 1993 Honda Prelude VTEC. It currently has the stock speakers, they are 21 years old and sound really bad.

Back in 1998 I had a '94 Prelude with Cerwin Vega comps, they sounded great but I hear CV isn't as good these days.

I like my sound to be smooth, not too bright. I don't want anything that will give me "Listener fatigue". I have a "cheap" Jensen Power 760.4 (75x4) amp that I plan on using. I had a Jenson in the past and it did a good job running the Vega comps.

I'm currently looking at:

DLS Reference UR6S

ID CXS64 V.2

DLS R6.2

ID CTX65CS

Focal 165 VB POLYGLASS (and whatever else, up to $350)

DLS UP6i

DLS RM6.2

RAINBOW SLX 265 (and whatever else, up to $350)

I have also contacted Hybrid Audio to see what they have. The closest dealer to me is 3 hours away. They gave me a contact in Missouri who I will call on Monday to see what products they offer in the price range I'm looking.

Is there anything else in the $300-350 range that someone would like to recommend? I know the speakers I listed are anywhere from $150 to $350... so If we can keep the price within that it would be great.

Right now I'm just gathering information.... so the let me know what you think.

Thanks

Sorry man no one here really runs dls or rainbow.

if you wouldve said hertz or id or hybrid audio they would of ran in to help.

you might want to look at the jbl ms components they have one of the nicest tweeters for the money hands down.

the mids are very smooth they just are a little weak in the lower midbass area.

with a decent sub you could easily make up what the mids lack.

above all the install will decide how the speakers will sound not who or how they are made

No problem, I was able to find a forum where they do run DLS. As of now my list includes ID, DLS and Hybrid Audio. I spoke with a Hybrid Audio rep and they're going to send some speakers to a local speaker shop for me to listen to. I may go with these just because the customer service is outstanding, I'm looking forward to listening to them. Hopefully my $350 will be able to get me into the Unity line...
