DLS Iridiums going FULL ACTIVE!! need help!

A buddy of mine has a Miata and has tried nearly everything and couldn't get the sound he wanted. Too many constrictions in the interior. After several thousand bucks of swapping setups back and forth, he gave up and put a set of bass shakers under the seat and bought a really nice set of headphones. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif No lie. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif Drives it off his Ipod with a splitter.
That is officially giving up right there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif LOL.
LOL well I think I'm already to deep to quit. I'll do the best I can and just settle with it. We'll see how it goes after I get word about a h701. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Wait a second...you didn't mention anything about having a subwoofer in your 1st post did you?? If you aren't going to run one, than what's all this H701 talk?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

No I am not going to run a sub. All I am running is a 3way front stage. So I would need the H701 which would handle 3 way front stage right?? I was looking at the H701 man that thing can do a lot of stuff!

No I am not going to run a sub. All I am running is a 3way front stage. So I would need the H701 correct? Or could I use something less expensive?
Hell no!! Get the H701 if you plan on adding a sub...but for now any electronic x-over will work. You could also upgrade your HU as the 9811 doesn't have 3 way capability.

yes its possible but don't you need the DDC to control it up front? if not then i guess you can tune through in the trunk.

but make sure that you can low pass on the sub output at 300hz or so with the AC unit.

Ok i'll make sure of that. But I'm still leaning towards the H701. I was reading the manual and it has 2 fronts. I'm not sure how I set the 701 to do 3 way active? It didn't say anything "3way"... Could you clarify Peter?

the h701 is an awesome unit. each pair of outputs has a bandpassable xover. even the sub you can bandpass if you choose. but with your setup if you were to use the h701, hook up "front 1" to tweeters and just highpass that at whatever frequency you want, then set the Low pass on the tweeter off. hook up "front 2" to midrange and bandpass as you like. hookup "rear" to your midbass and just lowpass at whatever frequency you like and set the highpass to whatever you like.

Ohhh ok. I see now. Have you gotten word from the dude?

Ok took me 10 hours to do this but i finally moved the Mids to the stock kick panels. Thanks to Alphakenny who showed me the link. Didn't have time to really listen to it yet (just finished cleaning up). My number 1 problem was filling up that 3 inch hole that the mid was in, in the door panel. For some reaosn a CD was teh perfect size to cover the hole and teh 4 screw holes PERFECTLY. So i covered the cd with black cloth and stuck it with fatman deadener from the inside. The stock kickpanels didn't have enough depth so i made 3 inch MDF rings to space it out. I covered the MDF ring with black cloth. Anyways, thought i'd share. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Much better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif If you move the tweets directly behind the midranges itd probably stage better.
