for dorm actuallycan anyone lead me in the way of some decent gear?
I know this is common knowledge/etiquette but don't be that dumbass freshman who plays his music as loud as possible with the door wide open thinking he is impressing everyone. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

When I was in college, I had a pair of JBL studio monitors and a '70s vintage NAD 3020 integrated amp, with an Adire Rava.

All very affordable gear, and it sounded great (well, as good as it'll sound in a dorm room). Still using the Rava today, actually //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hadn't had the FLAC epiphany at that point, though...was still getting MP3s off I2HUB.

its common to come across some old mcs recievers that have great clean power. grab something like that and a cd player and a pair of decent speakers. the old jensens with 15s in them sounded great for the money. lots of options around. check your local craigslist and ebay. you can find hafler amps on ebay for cheap also.

im also going to be using it when i move into the frat house as well

i just want something for music. these logitech speakers distort at loud volumes. its not enough power for me.

Id go with a nice set of Active studio monitor's myself.
the KRK RP6's are nice.

For a frat house?

I think these would be a better fit for a frat party.
