I have to write a college app essay about diversity.... here is the exact prompt....
The University of Washington seeks to create a community of students richly diverse in cultural backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints. How would you contribute to this community?

I come from the whitest town imaginable ... we a total of 10 black kids out of 2000 students at our highschool and no other real minorities worth mentioning....

How the eff am I supposed to write an essay about my experiences with minorities when I have never even seen one...?

I see you're having trouble getting passed the "cultural backgrounds" part of the question. Do you have unique experiences? Unique viewpoints? Those are both part of the diversity the school is looking for.

Did you seriously think that they were asking about experience and viewpoints with minorities? What the hell is wrong with you?

I went to two very different universities, conservative views( the ones that thinks we should be judged by our merits not our race or origin) are always frowned upon. From the quote you gave, they are not asking you to define diversity or give an example like I think you and others here might be thinking. They are asking you how you can contribute to their diverse community. A bit different.
