Would I be losing any features by ditching my 300/4 and replacing it with an Orion 8004? I know I'll be getting more power which is not a problem at all:up2somet: Just wondering if anybody has had both these amps and which one you prefer?

And where can I find specs on all th old line of amps? On Orion's website all their specs are for their new HCCA models and it's kinda hard to tell which one is equal to what older model.

seriously thats why i love my 300/4. More options then a witches *****. ****in the 8004 is sooooo big though. longer then my 1000/1. Pretty gnarly. So anybody else that owns one right now, is the 8004 lacking anything or are you perfectly happy with it?

Helotaxi- could you please explain a little deeper on why the quality of the 2 amps don't compare. I trust what your saying by reading so many of your posts, a lot of the things you write are very complicated and hard for me to understand. So that just shows that you're on a higher level with this electrical stuff than I am lol. If you could give me any major differences I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Quality of internal components. Reliability. Quality of build. The Orions of the last few years are mass produced, import, garbage IMO. If you are on a budget, that's one thing, but you have 2 JL amps already. Tells me that you are beyond Orion budget levels. To really notice a difference, you will need to go to around 150W per channel. That said it really makes no sense to me to move down in quality for no real extra power.

There's a reason that you can find the Orions for right next to nothing and the JLs are expensive even on the grey market.

^^ I agree with this statement 100%! Don't do it...not worth it.

Thanks for the quick reply, I fully see what you're saying. Here's my reasoning for looking to trade out my 300/4 for an 8004: I have the 1000/1 to power my sub, and the 300/4 to power my speakers. I love my 2 JL amps, they are amazingly tunable and very stout. Never given me any problems at all. But I need way more wattage to my sub, so I'm going with a 2500d.

I hate how it looks when people mix and match amps. IMO it just looks cheap and like they didn't wanna take the time or money to make everything look right. My amps will not be hidden, I like putting time into building a quality amp rack that looks as good as every other component installed in the car.

So that's why I was thinking to myself, "well if I go for the 2500d, I might as well trade out my 300/4 for another Orion amp so that it all matches." But if quality will really be sacrificed by using the 8004, then it's out of the question.

And I don't understand why the hell the 8004 has to be longer then my JL 1000/1. I mean it is just straight up HUGE!!! Too big if you ask me. I guess my thoughts are still kinda jumbled on what I wanna do right now. I think I'm gonna just get the 2500d, upgrade my elctrical, get that all tuned and then decide what to do about my speakers and speaker amp/s when I get to it.
