distortion??

i have alpine type s coaxial speakers...and in some songs i hear distortion at a high volume...but in other songs that also have a lot of base theere seems to be no problem...is it the mp3s i play or is it the speakers with the problem...

It could be any number of things ...
Amplifier may be clipping

Song could be poorly ripped, poorly recorded, or have a poor bitrate

Speaker may be travelling further

If it's ONLY at high volumes, you can probably rule out the second one ...

my speakers r only hooked to my hu. ahh well..thanks for the input

yea i kinda know what you are talking about. For the most part I would say that its just the way each song is. Because lets say a song will actually have MORE bass than the songs that song clean, they might not handle it really well. Maybe get an amp to power those speakers and see how they sound then. Anything that does 65-80 will be a big improvement. I saw a huge improvement when I upgraded to a crappy sony 4 channel amp that was probably overrated.
