Distortion?

Q: I don't have my speakers amped right now. Obviously, at high volumes, it sounds like a bunch of distortion... but is it? Is this unhealthy for speakers to do without being amped? I hate that sound, like they're crapping out. And no, I'm not a volume master. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I simply wanted to hear how loud they would go without losing any clarity. If any of you own an Alpine deck, I get to around 23 before it starts doing this. Just my curious mind at work.

well when u amp ur speakers u get more clarity but since u have them on h/u just turn down ur bass boost and bass settings but leave the sub and everything up, thatll let u bring the speakers up to a higher and louder volume b4 they distort due to excess bass coming out them, so basically just let ur sub do the work

i agree with Abcdefg

U gota turn ur bass down. If i turn my music up real high and put the bass up i get distortion much easier than if its sound. I have un-amped speakers as well. U just cant expect much outa them unless theyr amped.
