Distortion Issues Polk 651's

HU is Sony X-Plode 45x4

Fronts - Polk 6 1/2 db651 60 w rms

Rears - Same

Sub - Planning on a 12" Polk just for a quality bass nothing major.

Issue right now is......

My 6 1/2's distort with any sort of bass Medium - High volume

I understand these are not going to carry bass load, however they should at least hit hard during anything from Nine inch Nails to Nelly......

They distort to the point that I'm worried they will blow.....

At 60 w RMS are they getting enough Juice from my HU @ 17w rms or do I need to run a small amp to get the bass to stop distorting...?

Very confused here & any help would be greatly appreciated.

btw: these are in a 05 Civic Coupe. No amp except from the HU EQ.
