distance between wall and end of port?

I will have 2x 4" ports in my box and i was wondering how close i can put the end of the port to the back wall.

rule of thumb is the radius of a circle from port to wall. I always do atleast the diameter.

I've been told a ports width away from any wall.

4" by rule of thumb. but if you have ~3" you should be ok.

^^ unless like your saying, you can make a quick adapter, 3/4" MDF ring to bring it out of the box a little more
