Dissapointed in TC-1000

Hey guys,

I just got my 10" TC-1000 hooked up. I have it in a .69cuft sealed box. I powering it with a Xenon 400.1

I must say i am dissapointed with the output of this sub.. I've had lots of setups before and even the single Type R off of 500watts in a sealed .85cuft box blew the TC-1000 away..

I guess i had to high of hopes for great looking motor and 24mm xmax ?

Does the TC-1000 just have pretty low output, or do you think something might be wrong?

i installed a 12" tc1k in my buddy's explorer. sounds great, a lil quieter than my type r, but a lot more sq. however, a ported 12" is gonna be louder than a sealed 10".

i think tc is more geared toward sq, at least the tc1k

Box too small?

No, it shouldn't be for the TC-1000. Recommended size for a bigger sized sealed is 1.0cf while the small box is 0.4cf.

Bushtree, can you give us some details on how/where the sub is installed in your vehicle?

Im thinking there has to be something wrong, as the TC-1000 is about on par with the stock factory 8" sub that came in my truck... How big of an impact would a leaking box cause? That is the next thing im going to check.. There is a possibility of a small air leak.

A leak can make a HUGE difference in output depending on size...

Beautiful install for sure. And yes, definitely investigate for air leaks in the encloseure. Good a place to start than any other right now.

Before you jump to conclusions. I'd switch out the subwoofer with a different model. Of course there is going to be differences using a different speaker, but that would let you find out if there is a problem with your location, amp, box ect.

Well i just took the box out, and lined it with another thick layer of caulking/silicone.. Hopefull that will seal up the leak.. It sucks i carpeted the box before i leak checked it. So no its not so easy to find that leak..

In an hour or two it will be dry enough to give it another shot..

yes it is a nice setup..maybe the way it is positioned has something to do with it, especially how it is facing you and all. like if it were corner loaded somehow or facing the rear of the vehicle, that might make a difference.

Oh and im assume there was a leak, as i pushed down on the cone when the sub was in the box and the cone was slow to return to its normal position..

I dunno, it might effect it a little bit, but the type R that blew this away was in a box the same style in the same place...

Translation: The low-end extension of that sub is pretty lame... response starts to roll of well above 100 Hz. I would expect it to sound a little thin given the
In-car response is going to be better, of course... but it probably will still sound thin, even with no leaks.
