so ive been running an OA 12 for a few days now. the box for it is 2 cubes at 32 hz. its a great box. well, im dissapointed on the low end of it. i am running on the same amp as my previous setup which was a single sa 8 tuned to 34 hz. and honestly, then 8 got just as low as the 12 now. i dont understand why the OA is lacking the lows. the sub is in the trunk facing back and port back. its wired to 4 ohms seeing around 500 rms. what's the deal?

Double check to make sure the enclosure is built to spec and that the port is the correct size/length. Also, that 8" enclosure was tuned at 32hz as well. Also, double check the speaker wiring. I don't think that is an issue, but you never know.

When installing a new sub setup, always try playing with the phase to see how interaction with the rest of the speakers, and the environment, is affected. Many times is better to wire your sub up 180 out. There are many other possible reasons for what you are describing, but this would be the easiest thing to check first.

alternatively, maybe a larger box would help with low end? im thinking about 2.5 cubes instead...if that doesn't do much then you can fulfill your dreams and go pickup a skar lol

i know the box is built to spec. the guy who built it builds his own boxes and has an sa 12 in a box similar to mine. he's a great guy. he told me all the deminsions, i just cant remember them. let me see if i can find them.

I'm not saying he is a bad/poor builder or anything of that nature. It is just one of the first things I always check when I get something that is less then desirable. I double triple check myself all the time just to make sure I did the math correct the first time around. I always check the the gross and net ft3 as well as port area and tuning. I check what I had wrote down and what is in the car to see if everything is the same or if there is something incorrect.

Other then that, there can be limitless reasons why it sounds different.

I played around with that port size and that enclosure size.. I don't see it being correct actually. The tuning and enclosure seem to be wrong by all my math right now.

Assuming that what you posted is the actual size of the enclosure.

thats the deminsions he told me before he built it. i told him my max deminisons and thats what he said back. i will go out and measure the box real quick
