Yeah, I've talked to some other people and they said the disc doctor isn' very good either, I have pesonally tried toothpaste, rubbing compound, metal polish, sandpaper technique staring at 1500 grit and going to 3000grit, heating the disc with a small butane torch, and none of those worked (at least not in what I considered a reasonable amount of time, 5min or less). Some of them may have worked if I wanted to screw around with 1 disc for 1/2 an hour or more. One guy I spoke with even tried using rubbing compound on the disc and then running it through the disc doctor he said he also tried metal polish that way and neither worked. The professional services want $1 and up per disc, their equipment cost anywhere from $800 to $8,000. I did hear of one device by a company called Simotech their model DSR-R1 sells for $114-$129 on the internet, it's supposed to be for home and small business (such as rental stores)use. They make a couple other models going up to about $250 that look pretty heavy duty. I can't find out much about the DSR-R1 though and I don't want to spend that kind of money without knwing if it works for sure.
