Disappointed with PG Rsd 10"

First off I will say that this sub does sound very musical and is a winner for the price and SQ.

However I was expecting it to handle at least 500 clean watts. It seems like I cant feed much over 300-400 without it distorting bad in a sealed box. Oh well...

Its a DVC in a .6 cu ft box. Prob sound good ported, but Its in a stealth box so Im thinking about just replacing it.

Ill sell it cheap, barley used //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well, my friend has 2 of these rsd10d and I was very satisfied with the sound of them at about 400w.
I think they sound good too. Im just lookin for something that can handle twice that power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Something doesn't sound right here. A sub shouldn't just sound distorted unless its gone beyond its xmax limits, or is being fed a distorted signal. If it truely is reaching full xmax, you could put it in a maller box so it takes more power to reach that same excursion level, but I dont really see the point in that.

Judging a speaker simply on how many watts it handles is completely ignoring its efficiency, enclosure effects, etc.

good point, i was going to say, why do you just need a sub to handle more power? are they not loud enough? power on its own does not equal loud. there is quite a few other things that need to be taken into account.

Sheesh, im not saying the setup sucks... But the RSD is just not hanging with what im used to running, Re's, Brahmas... I never expected it to either. For the price it sounds great, but no its not loud enough...

Lets be fair here, you are talking about one 10, sealed. We cannot tell you if its as loud as it 'should' be, we aren't there nor do we have a verifiable number to go by (TL). All I can say is one 10 sealed, dont expect alot of output.
You said its a stealthbox, is it firing into a seat?

Lastly, if you are comparing it to 'Brahmas' again remember, its s ingle sealed 10, cut it some slack. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif At least port it if you expect much output. (why did you ever get rid of some brahmas anyway... shame on you! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif )

Cheers. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
