Disappointed in Alpine Type X.. Now What?

For a while I just had my Alpine Type X 10s sitting in my back room because my old car got totaled. A couple months ago I put them in my Mustang with a MTX Thunder942 I had laying around just to get a little bass. I recently bought an Orion HCCA-D5000 to run them and after hearing what they can do Im a little disappointed. They keep bottoming out if the gain is turned up past 3/4 and my friend's two Kicker 10" CompVR's sound almost as loud. So what do you guys recommend? I was thinking of trying the Kicker VX's but I havent heard them yet. My system is below.

Eclipse CD7000

6 1/2" Kicker SS Components (front/rear)

MTX Thunder1004 4-Channel

2 10" Alpine Type X (obviously)

Orion HCCA-D5000

This is all just running off the stock battery and alternator. Yes, I know I need to replace them, and they are going to be replaced very shortly so doesn't need to be mentioned. Any feedback is appreciated.

set the gains right....see gain setting tutorial in amp section...

edit you beat me to it....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

If you were going for just being loud you bought the wrong speakers. The X's are solid in the volume department for daily driving, but you could have been much louder for cheaper. Granted you wouldn't sound as good, but since your jealous of your frinds kickers, I doubt you'd mind so much.
