Dirt in my 9835 faceplate!?

As you can guess, I have a problem with dirt in my CDA-9835 faceplate. It's behind the actual plastic, but right on the display, so basically in the most noticeable spot possible. Does anyone know how to get behind the plastic cover to clean this out? I don't know how it got there, since it goes from the car to the case and nowhere else. I just noticed it and it's annoying the hell out of me. Thanks!

idk, never had that happen, im not shure how to get behind the screen, unless taking apart the whole face plate. witch could makes things worst.

You would take a small, precision Phillips-head screwdriver and remove the screws from the rear of the faceplate. Pull the two halves apart while being very careful not to force anything apart that could potentially be one button or another's workings. After you've separated it sufficiently to access the backside of the plastic which covers the actual display just clean it and reassemble the face.

I had that happen on my kenwood x959. I just popped it open and cleaned it... the plastic screen part either glued or clipped on.. if it's clips go for it.. just be careful...

There are three screws on the back of the faceplate. The only thing that really holds it together after that is the knob and a few clips. The clips are easy, the knob is a bit tough cuz it's kinda hard to get ahold of, but if you pull the two faceplate pieces apart it'll pull the knob up a little so you can get ahold of it.

^ *****... lol i was to , i didnt go any further after i was stuck at the volume know, afraid somethins gonna break, so i didnt proceed beyond that, so you sure it pops off and you can pop it back on , with no gaps nothing like that??

Yeah, just be very careful. You should be able to feel the tension where the clips are and pop those out and then work on the knob. I pulled the face apart enough to shimmy the knob up enough so I could grab it. I don't have any problems with gaps or operation at all. I'm not really a mechanical guy, so if I can do it, I think anybody can. Just use patience and be careful.
